Cypriot band Island Seeds on country-wide tour

Local band Island Seeds is about to embark on a four-city tour as they celebrate the release of their brand-new single, Stray Cat. Performances in Larnaca, Paphos, Nicosia and Famagusta are coming up.

The band, which consists of seven musicians, came together for the first time under the Home for Cooperation’s United by Sound programme and had their premiere performance on the 10th anniversary celebrations of the H4C. Following their successful performances in Fengaros Reacts 2022 and the United by Sound Winter Edition Events, they composed and recorded their first album, produced by Lefteris Moumtzis. Now, they are ready to perform their new songs around Cyprus.

“Through their dreamy soul-infused melodies,” writes the band description, “pulsating psychedelic grooves and esoteric lyrics, Island Seeds offer a unique musical blend of the island’s Mediterranean soul, which is quintessentially Cypriot and yet effortlessly at home beyond its borders. Formed over coffee within Nicosia’s buffer zone in the spring of 2022, Island Seeds is a collective of seven artists from the island’s two largest communities, united by a sense of musical self-discovery and experimentation. During their tour across the island, Seeds will be presenting songs from their recently recorded debut EP – which also features collaborations with other Cypriot artists across the divide- and material from the members’ solo projects, making up a set filled with delicious textures, introspective slow-jams and buoyant acerbic impressions of Cypriot reality.”

The island tour will begin from Larnaca on Friday with a gig at Savino Live. On the following evening, the band will head to Paphos for a performance at Technopolis 20. Their following gig will be across the checkpoint at old Nicosia’s Hoi Polloi and will take place a few weeks later, on June 15. The final gig will be at the end of June at a Famagusta district location, Mağusa Kale Pasajı, on June 30.

Until then, band members Alexis Sunder, Ezgi Akgürgen, Cemre Arca, Alexandra Astreou Karydes, Alexandros Komodromos, Arman Tatlicioglu and Ulaş Öğüç are getting ready to present their new music and hit the road.
