Woman jailed for 16 months for causing fatal crash

A 42-year-old woman was on Tuesday sentenced to 16-months in jail after she was found guilty of causing a traffic accident that killed the 35-year-old Christakis Christodoulou in Larnaca over two years ago.

Larnaca district court also imposed eight penalty points and deprived the woman of her driving licence for three months, in force after her release from prison.

The accident occurred at noon on December 31, 2020 on Makarios Avenue in Aradippou.

Christodoulou, a resident of the town, was on his motorcycle when he crashed into the vehicle in front of him, which was driven by the sentenced woman.

As a result, the young man was critically injured. He was transferred to the Larnaca general hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
