A 33-year-old woman was sentenced to 12 years in jail on Tuesday after she was found guilty of importing almost 13kg of cannabis resin, as a second woman aged 42, was jailed for five years.

The decision was handed down at the Larnaca-Famagusta criminal court, and was linked to a police operation between Greece and Cyprus.

Specifically, on January 27 three parcels were addressed to Cyprus which contained 12.844kg of cannabis resin.

Two of the parcels were addressed to the 33-year-old and the third to the 42-year-old.
