The ‘presidency’ in the north released a statement on Monday night rubbishing journalist Serhat İncirli’s claims he was ejected from talks between Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The statement claims that while Meltem Sonay, the news director of İncirli’s newspaper Yeni Düzen, sent her own accreditation and was allowed to attend the event, İncirli did not and was therefore not allowed to attend as a matter of procedure.

The statement concluded by accusing İncirli of making “misleading and untrue statements to the public” and “violating the ethics of the press”.
