Young art takes the spotlight in an ongoing exhibition at Gloria Gallery. In the context of encouraging and promoting young artists, the Nicosia gallery presents an exhibition of the multi-awarded high school student of Dali Lyceum Nefeli Kyriakidou titled Faces. The exhibition will remain open until June 23.
Nefeli was born in Nicosia and lives in Lythrodontas. She is a high school senior with successes in Pan Cypriot competitions and distinctions throughout her studies. She has been drawing since her elementary school years, studying representational images from colouring books and copying their shape and structure with pencils, while gradually developing the technique and style of Photographic Representational Realism.
“I have always been fascinated by the human face and the abundance of emotions it reveals with a simple glance at it,” said Nefeli. “Lately I have been experimenting with the different angles of the face and the structure of the human body from busts and full-body sculptures of personalities such as Antinous, Dionysus, Alexander the Great and Achilles.
“I have always liked to surround myself with Art and the concept of expressing the psyche, through visual means, be it drawing, painting, theatre or literature,” she added.
