Police confirmed on Friday they have made a 14th arrest in conjunction with forged residence papers.

The man, aged 22, joins a growing list of people arrested in connection with the case.

All 14 remain under investigation for conspiracy to commit a felony, conspiracy to extort, forgery, circulation of forged documents and obtaining registration by false representation, as well as offences of corruption, defrauding a public official, abuse of power and neglect of official duty.

The case has been ongoing since March, when the director of the Limassol citizens service centre reported that between December 8, 2022 and March 3 as many as 20 applications to obtain driving licences appeared suspicious.

The Aliens and Immigration department carried out an investigation and discovered that all 20 applicants presented forged MEU2 permanent residence permits.
