Traffic back to normal, after truck overturns on Limassol highway (update)

The lane of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway that was shut down on Thursday causing massive disruption, after a truck collided into another causing it to overturn, was opened to traffic at around 2.30pm.

Police spokesperson Christos Andreou told the media that the driver of one of the trucks involved is currently being sought by authorities, while the driver of the overturned truck has been rushed to the hospital in a state of shock.

“Another truck has been found parked in the left lane of the highway, but the driver has not yet been located. We are currently investigating the situation,” Andreou said.

The other lane of the Nicosia-Limassol highway, heading towards Limassol near Parekklisia was reopened to traffic at around 8am.

According to a police announcement, law enforcement officers have been present in the area to provide assistance and regulate traffic.

Motorists passing through the scene are still urged to drive at a safe, reduced speed, maintain a safe distance from the vehicles ahead, and follow the instructions of the police officers in the vicinity.
