The executive director of the Hope For Children CRC policy centre met with President Nikos Christodoulides’ wife Philippa Karsera to discuss the needs of vulnerable children in Cyprus.
A statement released after the discussion between the organisation’s executive director Andria Neocleous and the first lady said that the agenda was focused on mental health services, management of sexual abuse incidents, support for foster families, facilities for unaccompanied children, a 24-hour helpline, and educational materials in schools.
Actions that can be taken to improve conditions for children were also discussed, the statement added.
The first lady expressed her support for the work of Hope For Children and her commitment to continue to promote efforts for the welfare of children in Cyprus, including initiatives she can undertake in her role.
For her part, Neocleous assured that the organisation will continue to work on further specialising and expanding its services so as to be able to serve every child who needs help, the announcement stated.
