Special European election voting procedures for north

hungarian parliamentary election in budapest

The interior ministry announced on Tuesday the activation of an electronic information service to register for the 2024 European elections, for people residing in areas where the Republic does not exercise effective control, such as the north.

The service is accessible via the web address https://etv.elections.moi.gov.cy/.

As per the ministry’s statement, “every citizen of the Republic who resides in areas where the government does not exercise effective control and is either 18 years of age by the date of the elections or has already reached that age and holds a Republic of Cyprus identity card issued by the Population Registry System is registered in the special electoral register for voters.”

Developed following a relevant recommendation from the Office of the European Parliament in Cyprus, the objective of this service is to inform people promptly regarding the conditions for automatic registration in the special electoral register.

Applications are to be submitted at the district offices until April 2, 2024.

People residing in these areas vote in specialised electoral centres located in areas adjacent to the buffer zone.

“Unlike other voters, these people are not allocated to specific polling stations and can cast their votes at any specialised electoral centre,” the statement continued.

“To prevent double voting, electronic electoral registers are used in these centres.”
