Larnaca was hit by power cuts on Wednesday, with the Electricity Authority (EAC) spokeswoman Christina Papadopoulou saying they had been caused by inclement weather.

Areas including Aradippou, Kamares, Ayios Nikolaos, Ormideia, and the Dromolaxia industrial area all went without power, though Papadopoulou moved to reassure residents and businesses that their electricity supply “will be fully restored within an hour or two”.

She said two teams from EAC were working to restore the damage inflicted by the weather, with the damage identified in the Kamares area.

She added that work is still underway to locate the damaged pylons in the Ormideia area.
