  • Ethereum Classic will implement the ‘Spiral Upgrade,’ which should happen on January 31, 2024.
  • An anonymous user sends $1.2 million of BTC to destination addresses linked to Satoshi Nakamoto.
  • Rebel Satoshi is set to fuse rebellious themes and meme culture to inspire a DeFi movement.

Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) remain the ‘OGs’ of crypto with years of popularity. However, their die-hard investors have found an interesting alternative in the meme gem, Rebel Satoshi ($RBLZ).

Interestingly, the project is inspired by Bitcoin’s creator, using their defiant spirit to fuel the decentralized finance movement. Let’s learn more about Rebel Satoshi, which is only a few weeks away from going live officially.

Rebel Satoshi rallies for decentralized finance movement

Rebel Satoshi is a meme coin blending rebellious themes and whimsiness with a much-desired decentralized finance movement. The project’s heroes include rebellious figures, Satoshi Nakamoto and Guy Fawkes. Ultimately, Rebel Satoshi represents the ‘Robin Hood’ of crypto, transferring wealth from oppressive elites to the masses.

Rebel Satoshi will also be a place of fun and enticing perks while celebrating rebellion and fostering defiance. The amusement starts with interactive quests, virtual gatherings, and the Rebel Meme Hall of Fame. Here, Rebel Satoshi‘s community members can express their best-voted ‘Recusant’ memes for laughs and popularity.

This part of Rebel Satoshi is exclusive to the early adopters with the greatest holdings of the $RBLZ token. Like Bitcoin, it has a fixed supply (of 250 million), going against the grain of inflationary traditional currencies. It provides benefits like staking rewards and entry into the Rebel Artefacts Vault NFT marketplace. Moreover, certain holders receive governance power and insider updates.

Users can own $RBLZ for $0.025 in the second-to-last round of Rebel Satoshi‘s presale. $RBLZ has risen 100% from $0.010 in the first round, a testament to the meme coin’s demand.

The presale will conclude next month, signaling the listing of $RBLZ on multiple exchanges. $RBLZ has also risen 25% to $0.025 by this time.

Now, let’s study the latest news for Bitcoin and Ethereum Classic.

Genesis Wallet linked to Satoshi Nakamoto receives $1.2 million in BTC

Every once in a while, the mystery of the blockchain’s creator re-captivates enthusiasts. Transactions believed to be linked to Satoshi Nakamoto’s original wallet have crept up, the most recent being on January 5, 2024. An anonymous user sent 26.9 million BTC (worth about $1.2 million) to the ‘genesis block’ wallet. This destination address has been inactive since 2010, when Nakamoto disappeared.

The amount of this transaction is what has the Bitcoin community curious. Coinbase head of product Conor Grogan on X/Twitter said, “Either Satoshi woke up, bought 27 Bitcoin from Binance, and deposited into their wallet, or someone just burned a million dollars.”

Meanwhile, Bitcoin continues to make highs, the most recent of which is $47,355 (now worth $46,560). BTC is up 12% since the start of 2024 from a low of $41,445. Moreover, estimates indicate it could reach at least $55,000 by 2025.

Ethereum Classic prepares for ‘spiral’ hard fork

Ethereum Classic continues to be under the radar, as evidenced by its on-chain metrics. The blockchain has only surpassed six figures in daily transactions four times since launching in 2015. The most recent peak was on November 26, 2023, reaching 180,507. This figure is now at 35,022.

Regardless, Ethereum Classic is preparing for a hard fork named the ‘Spiral Upgrade.’ The update is expected on January 31, 2024, at block 19,250,000. According to the developers, the Spiral upgrade will ‘bring the ETC Network to parity with upstream EVM standards, facilitating contract development and migration.’

Based on chart performance, ETC is falling slightly out of favor in top altcoins, down 18% from $24.41 to $20.02. Still, many forecasts suggest it will climb to at least $35 by the start of next year.
