Limassolians want a stronger voice in decision-making and a city which is far more accessible and inclusive, it emerged on Monday as the organisers of Limassol’s European Culture Capital 2030 bid published data after week of consultations.

These include the need for participating in decision making, empowering the less privileged, enhancing cultural infrastructure and institutions, constructing a more accessible and inclusive city driven by respect, curiosity, connection and creativity – all leading to a city that actively listens to the needs of its citizens.

Members of civil society, artists, cultural associations, groups and initiatives, community representatives, students and volunteers across a range of age groups were given the opportunity to voice their thoughts on what Limassol needs.

Efforts from the organisers include mapping the city’s cultural activity, exchanging views and mapping perceptions.

The team is also mapping the ‘vibe’ of the city, through a questionnaire collecting Limassolians’ personal views and experiences, through the online Vibesensor available in both Greek and English.

Having processed the views, experiences and opinions expressed by the audience across a number of sessions, the Lemesos 2030 team managed to classify the diverse range of topics related to the development of the city under specific thematic areas.
