Police on Friday announced the arrest of two men in connection with the theft of copper pipes and various other tools from two apartment buildings in the Nicosia district.

The men, aged 42 and 29, had reportedly committed the thefts on Tuesday and Thursday.

Police searched the 29-year-old’s home and car, and found various items, including tools, pieces of copper pipes, pumps and other items for which they said “he could not give an adequate explanation.”

The 42-year-old reportedly admitted to having stolen the copper pipes and guided police to a location where a large number of them were found.

The complainants were able to identify the copper pipes, as well as a proportion of the other items found in the 29-year-old’s home, as theirs.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
