Cypriot MEPs Loucas Fourlas and Michalis Hadjipandela organised an awareness event on the Cyprus issue at the European Parliament, they said on Tuesday.
The event was organised at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France to mark the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
Fourlas said that the event was an initiative of the Cypriot MEPs of the European People’s Party (EPP).
“With a simple campaign and holding a symbolic banner that reads No To Occupation, We Need To Reunite Our Country, dozens of colleagues from all political groups have honoured us by taking photos with our banners and slogans and posting them on their own social media on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion,” he said.
He said in doing so they “sent a message that in this difficult time we are not alone, we have our European family with us.”
