Professor Soteris Kalogirou of the Cyprus University of Technology (Tepak) has been elected as a member of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Academy, according to an announcement by the university.

Tepak said that following Professor Kalogirou’s election as a regular member of the Academia Europaea, the Artificial Intelligence Industry Academy, which operates under the International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA), has elected him as a Fellow.

The university explained that “the academy is a prestigious organisation dedicated to attracting outstanding scientists from various fields, collectively committed to promoting the broad application of artificial intelligence across different industrial sectors”.

Moreover, Tepak stated that “the rationale for Professor Kalogirou’s election is based on his status as a leading scientist with remarkable achievements in the field”. 

“His expertise and experience are essential for advancing artificial intelligence in various industrial sectors,” the university added. 

It should be noted that the International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded voluntarily, currently comprising 464 Fellows. 

Its mission is to promote the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, encourage innovation and its application across various industrial sectors, facilitate the deep integration of artificial intelligence into the economy and society, and contribute to the progress and development of human society.

Tepak stated that Professor Kalogirou’s election to the International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance “confirms the international recognition from the scientific community and the significant impact of his research in the field, particularly focusing on applications in energy systems and renewable energy systems”.
