A 27-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for the kiosk robbery in Limassol.
According to the police, the robbery was committed overnight at 11.35pm and the complainant reported that the perpetrator was a young man, naked from the waist up, who entered a kiosk and began grabbing products from the shelves, some of which he put down his trousers.
In an attempt to prevent the thief from leaving, the employee locked the door, when the man allegedly assaulted him with a plastic rod.
The employee visited the Limassol general hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his hands.
The thief then managed to unlock the door and escape, grabbing three cartons of cigarettes from a shelf next to the cash register on his way out.
Officers arrived at the scene and during their investigation secured the testimony against the 27-year-old man.
