A 32-year-old mother and her three-year-old daughter were injured in a traffic accident in Paphos over the weekend.

According to police, the accident happened on Saturday shortly before 10pm in Tremithousa when the mother, who was driving towards Emba Avenue with her daughter in the back seat, lost control of her vehicle causing it to veer to the right, overturn, and come to rest in a ditch.

The child was not buckled in and was flung from the car.

Both mother and child were taken to the Paphos general hospital, while the 32-year-old was subjected to a drug test with positive result.

The little girl was subsequently transferred to Makarios hospital in Nicosia where she is still being kept for treatment, while the mother was discharged and permitted to accompany her child.
