Two people were arrested in Nicosia on Saturday night after police found just shy of 2.5 kilograms of cocaine in their car.
The pair, a 26-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, were pulled over for a routine traffic stop, before their vehicle was searched.
The search upturned a package on the passenger’s seat containing a little short of 2.5kg of cocaine.
The man, who had been driving the car, was arrested, before police searched his home and found another 192 grams of cocaine, as well as precision scales on which traces of cocaine were detected, and a quantity of cash.
The woman was also arrested, and both were handed eight-day remands in court on Sunday.
The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
