September will welcome one more exhibition dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion. Titled Fifty Years of Occupation, 1974-2024, the exhibition is presented by the University of Cyprus, where it also takes place, featuring 54 Greek Cypriot and Greek artists with more than 200 works depicting the tragic events of 1974.

Attending the opening event on Monday to inaugurate it is President Nikos Christodoulides. Running until September 23, the showcase will be hosted at the Anastasios G. Leventis Council-Senate Building.

Across the room, cartoons and sketches published during the coup and the Turkish invasion drawn by leading cartoonists of the time, as well as by younger artists who began working and creating after the invasion to the present day will be displayed.

Many of the artworks were designed specifically for the exhibition, while others have been published over the years. All of them depict the consequences that Cyprus has endured since 1974, including betrayal, the ongoing occupation, the missing persons, the drama of their relatives, the negotiations, the international community, the politicians of the time, and the pain of a divided homeland.
