Former Green party member Efi Xanthou has joined Volt Cyprus, she announced on Saturday.
“It’s time to get back in the game,” she said in a post on her social media.
“Volt Cyprus is my new political home! Thank you all for giving me such a warm welcome! If you agree join us!”
Xanthou resigned from the Green Party in May after 23 years of involvement. In a strongly worded letter announcing her departure, she described backstabbing and depicted a picture of a party that turned a blind eye to wrongdoings.
Last November, Xanthou, who served as the party’s deputy leader, ran for the leadership position against Giorgos Perdikis, who previously headed the party.
Perdikis won the post.
A month before that in October, party leader at the time Charalambos Theopemptou resigned. A day after, Green MP Alexandra Attalides announced she was leaving the party. She joined Volt Cyprus.
