Time to travel back in time to medieval era with knights, horse carriages and folk music as the Renaissance Fair returns to Pyrga village. The Community Council of Pyrga is proud to host the latest edition of this special one-day event this Saturday, with activities for all ages. Get ready for music, dancing, historical re-enactments and games.

“This year,” say organisers, “the Renaissance Fair colourfully proclaims and celebrates the love of the Cypriot farmer for his land, turning its focus towards the sowing season, the re-birth of the land and the accompanying societal ‘cultivation and coexistence’.”

A showstopper at the fair is, of course, the Spectacular Parade led by the Italian flag bearers Sbandieratori Delle Sette Contrade Di Orte that signals the start of the fair and welcome in guests and artists. Doors open at 3pm and the parade will kick off the fun an hour later at Pyrga’s central square.

Once open, the fair will host a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy. Traditional games with a medieval flair, archery, horse rides through the village, an outdoor market featuring local products, handicrafts and Cypriot food. Throughout the afternoon, a live music programme will keep guests entertained while fire shows, kids’ games and dance performances add to the day’s medieval ambience.
