A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with yet another delivery driver attack in Limassol, in which a 22-year-old was injured.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning when at about 2:20am, police were notified that a delivery driver on his motorbike was attacked by a group of youths.

The attack happened on Eleftheria’s street, in the heart of Limassol’s city centre.

A group of people attacked him while he was on his motorbike to deliver food. He fell to the ground. Officers found the 15-year-old who was arrested and detained for questioning.

The teenager is being investigated for causing actual body harm.

Delivery drivers have long voiced concerns over a spate of attacks, which has shown no signs of abating.

On Friday, two food delivery companies met with Limassol’s police chief Andreas Angelides amid increasing concerns.

Angelides stressed such behaviour is not tolerated, and during the meeting they all decided to better coordinate so as to clampdown on the phenomenon.

Limassol’s police chief will also plan to meet with delivery drivers directly, for advice and guidance on how to help.
