The 24-hour bus strike scheduled for November 25 has been cancelled by the employees of the Paphos public transport company.
According to an announcement made by both Omepege-Sek and Segdamelin-Peo, the employees of Paphos public company (Osypa) decided to cancel the strike and discuss the renewal of their collective agreement with the labour ministry.
The goal of the employees, “is to resolve the labour issues that concern them and affect them, in an effort to not disrupt the passengers with possible strike actions, for which the employees have no responsibility” the two unions announced.
‘‘The goal is to renew the collective agreement and to discuss labour issues,” the general secretary of Omepege Charalambos Augoustis said.
The general-secretary of Segdamelin-Peo Natia Kyritsis said that ‘‘the workers will come to the meeting with a positive attitude and expect a proposal from the ministry to renew the contract… which will meet the needs of Paphos public transport workers and will include arrangements that will substantially improve the daily life and work of the workers.”
