The 24-year-old man who fell out of a moving vehicle in the early hours of Saturday morning remains in a critical condition after having undergone surgery, the police said on Sunday.

The man was initially admitted to the Larnaca general hospital, but was subsequently transferred to the Nicosia general hospital, where he underwent a craniotomy – an operation in which a bone flap is temporarily removed from the skull to allow access to the brain.

After having undergone surgery, he was moved to the hospital’s intensive care unit, where he is on a ventilator and under sedation.

The man was riding in the passenger seat of a car being driven by another man of the same age at around 3.15am on Saturday in Larnaca.

At some point, he opened the car’s door, falling out and sustaining a head injury.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
