Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas on Thursday congratulated the 2024 graduating class of the military police, wishing them well on their new role as keepers of law and order in the army.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Palmas said today should inspire the soldiers to pursue new goals, embrace challenges and gain constructive experiences that will shape them into capable fighters.

He called on the graduates to assume the “extremely important” responsibilities of their new role – to ensure law and order in the army – in an exemplary manner and to conduct themselves as model soldiers, fulfilling their term “with pride, determination and dedication”.

“Look for ways to evolve. Aim high. Strive for continuous progress and improvement. Prepare yourselves in such a way that you can meet every challenge promptly and effectively. Seek to acquire new knowledge,” Palmas said.

“Knowledge, experience and skills create a sense of security, which allows us to face the challenges that arise with confidence and effectiveness,” he added.

The minister said it is also important for the soldiers to understand their own limitations as self-awareness will allow them to approach every situation with confidence and composure, limiting the anxiety and insecurity that often accompany ignorance or uncertainty.

He also called on them not to hesitate in the face of any difficulties, noting that even seemingly small failures will work positively in the broader effort to achieve their goals.
