The United Nations secretary-general’s reports on Cyprus are expected to be released next week, a spokesman for the United Nations said on Monday.

They are the report of the secretary-general on his good offices mission in Cyprus, and the report on the United Nations operation in Cyprus.

The reports come out twice a year.

UN spokesman Aleem Siddique said also that Colin Stewart – head of the UN peacekeeping force in Cyprus – will be traveling to New York on January 6.

On January 14 Stewart will brief the UN Security Council on the state of play in Cyprus.

Later, on January 16, Stewart will be briefing the countries that contribute troops to Unficyp.

The Security Council is expected to renew Unficyp’s mandate before the end of January, Siddique added.

Meanwhile according to the Cyprus News Agency, the negotiators representing the two communities will be meeting again, likely after Epiphany (January 6).

The negotiators are Menelaos Menelaou and Gunes Onar.

Reunification talks have effectively stalled since the collapse of negotiations in Switzerland in July 2017.
