Some 950 traffic violations were recorded across the island since December 23, the police said on Thursday.

Of the total of 954 violations, 446 were for speeding, 164 for drink-driving, 69 for not wearing a seatbelt,

53 for driving without third-party insurance, 39 for using a mobile phone, and five for not wearing a helmet.

In a statement, the police said they would keep up intensive checks until January 6, the end of the festive season.
