Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades announced on Thursday morning that he would meet with the law office later in the day to finalise a decree on Takata airbags. He made the remarks during a visit to the Nicosia-Palechori motorway construction site.
Vafeades said consultations with the law office were ongoing. The goal of Thursday’s meeting was to finalise the content of the decree.
“It’s vital that everything complies with the law, which is why this time is necessary,” he said.
“Once we’re ready, we’ll announce the details or any additional measures. Whether the decree takes effect on February 3 depends on the outcome of the discussions.”
He confirmed the decree had already been drafted. However, the meeting would ensure it adhered to legal requirements.
When asked if more than one decree might be issued, he said, “That will depend on the advice of the law office.”
