Social service workers are demanding the right to work in a safe, dignified and functional environment, Isotita union said on Friday.

Following a break-in at a social service office in Larnaca on Tuesday, the union called for immediate action to improve working conditions and ensure staff safety.

“The political leadership chooses silence, inaction, and a lack of communication management, leaving workers exposed to serious risks and unable to do their job,” the union stated.

It warned that if the social service administration and the deputy ministry of social welfare continued to ignore their responsibilities, the consequences would fall on them.

Social service workers face unsafe facilities, a lack of protection during visits, and overwhelming workloads, the union said.

“The authorities cannot continue turning a blind eye to the situation. We will not allow further threats to our security or dignity,” the union concluded.
