“Ceramics, one of the earliest forms of human artistic expression, has played a central role in Cyprus’ rich cultural history,” say organisers of an upcoming exhibition. “The abundance of high-quality clay in Cyprus fostered the development of ceramics as a significant artistic practice.”
Paying tribute to Cyprus’ cultural past, the group exhibition Shared Heritage, Shaped by Fire brings together 12 Greek and Turkish Cypriot contemporary ceramicists to present original works. Held at CVAR Severis Foundation, the showcase will run from February 20 to March 2, offering numerous interpretations of the craft of ceramics. Each artist will present their personal approach to the art, expressed in their unique style.
“This exhibition,” add organisers, “will not only showcase the artistic talent of contemporary ceramicists but will also serve as a cultural bridge, linking Cyprus’ past with its present and fostering artistic dialogue between its communities.”
Participating in the exhibition are the artists Elysia Athanatos, Christiana Charalambous, Sinem Ertaner, Vedia Okutan Gaydeler, Oya Güryel, Yılmaz Kastanbollu, Eser Keçeci, Celia Potoudis Macpherson, Anastasia Lambaski Onisiphorou, Panayiotis Pasantas, Mümine Özdemirağ Yağlı and Alexandros Yiorkadjis.
