A 24-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of stealing from his grandparents’ house.

He was apprehended in Paphos after his grandparents complained on Monday that he stole items worth of €31,500.

“Over the past year, jewellery with the approximate worth of €30,000 was stolen along with various other items worth €1,100 and €400 in cash,” the couple said

The grandson is believed to have either broken into the house or entered through an open door or window.

“They suspect their 24-year-old grandson, who had access to their house, while he previously confessed that he stole some items from them,” assistant Paphos police chief Michalis Nikolaou said.

He was located on Tuesday driving a stolen car worth €8,000 in Peyia, containing various construction tools worth €3,600.

An arrest warrant for burglary, residence theft, illegal entry and malicious damage was issued against him.
