The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Music Inspector of the Department of Secondary General Education present three family concerts that will both educate and captivate young audience members. What is even more special is that 18 young pianists from the Music Schools of Nicosia, Limassol, Famagusta and Paphos will participate.
First, the concert will be presented this Friday in Paralimni at the Xenion High School Amphitheatre at 6pm with students from the Famagusta Music School taking the stage. Then, two concerts await on Saturday at Nicosia’s Pallas Theatre, first at 4pm with musicians from the Nicosia Music School and then at 5.30pm with participants from the Limassol Music School.
The students will be performing with the CySO. This will surely be a unique and valuable experience for all: the young musicians, the professional musicians and the audience.
Under the baton of Cypriot maestro Andreas Asiikkis, the concert will start with one of the most popular classical works for children, The Carnival of the Animals by the French composer Camille Saint-Saints. It consists of 14 delightful pieces, whereby a variety of animals come to life in a richly imaginative and humorous manner, such as the lion, the swan, birds, chicken, donkeys, as well as some humans.
Two equally popular works will complete the concert: the first movement of Mozart’s Symphony no. 40, full of tenderness and drama, and the sunny, vivacious Spring from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi.
This educational programme also comprises five morning educational concerts for students of secondary schools in Nicosia and Paphos.
