The Miracle Babies association on Tuesday celebrated 10 years, over which time it has raised more than €750,000.

The association has collected donations of €770,339 towards medical care facilities and other infrastructure for premature babies and their families.

Examples offered included the donation of a specially designed ambulance for premature babies, newborn babies, children, and pregnant woman worth €300,000, and the donation of specialised medical equipment worth €262,000 for the needs of the neonatal intensive care units at the Makarios hospital in Nicosia and the Limassol general hospital.

It also said it has funded the training of nurses in cardiopulmonary support and neonatal intensive care, as well as “psychological support to parents” through a book entitled The Miracle Baby and his Journey.

Association chairwoman Elena Megalemou spoke at the event, saying the 10 years since the association was founded have been “ a story full of challenges and many miracles”.

“It has been ten years since they inspired us, taught us, and pushed us to continue to be by the side of thousands of premature babies to win the battle of life and by the side of their families to support them and give them hope,” she said.

She added that “every step we take is a promise for the future”.
