Eighty-one tuberculosis cases were reported in Cyprus in 2023 with an incidence rate of 8.8 per 100,000 population.

In the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day on Monday, the health ministry was raising awareness to limit the spread of the disease.

This year’s message focuses on “Yes! We can end Tuberculosis: We commit, we invest, we implement!”
This effort underlines the importance of coordinated actions and necessary investments to end the disease by 2030.

The ministry emphasises the need for early diagnosis of TB, equal access to treatment and monitoring, to reduce the disease and avoid drug resistance.

“The health ministry continues to invest in new diagnostic methods, new innovative drugs and infrastructure for the safe treatment of patients suffering from tuberculosis,” the ministry said in an announcement.
