After an intense weekend of racing, which included a continental knockout round and a semi-final on Sunday, we are proud to report that our athlete Tristan Michaelides achieved an impressive 2nd place ranking in the world out of 53 young competitors and earned the Silver Medal in the U17 2000m Singles event at the World Rowing Indoor Championships.

In addition to his second-place finish, Tristan set a new personal best time of 6:21.9, ranking him 36th in the world in the Open Men’s Category (adults), with only two other under-17 athletes to qualify in the top 50.

Just minutes after being crowned the World Silver Medalist in the 2000m Singles event, Tristan teamed up with Platon Bykov, David Tremsin, and Maximillian Rozanov to secure the Bronze Medal in the U17 Sprint Relay Event. They recorded an impressive time of 5:47.3, narrowly missing second place by less than 2 seconds.

On February 17th, Kristina Kovalenko competed in the U17 500 metre race, finishing 12th out of 31 athletes her age, which placed her 94th out of a total of 180 women in the Open Women’s Category (adults).

Since our founding in 2018, Limassol Rowing Centre’s athletes have dominated the National Championships in both indoor and outdoor rowing events. We are incredibly proud to celebrate our athletes as world indoor rowing champions!
