Two men were arrested on Monday for burglary, among other crimes in Limassol.

On Sunday night the alarm of a house under construction went off in Ayios Tychonas and when police arrived they spotted two men in a car and stopped them.

The 45-year-old passenger attempted to flee on foot but was stopped by officers. While he resisted arrest and hit officers, they detained him.

The two suspects were both arrested while various electrical tools, burglary tools and a small amount of cannabis were found in the car.

Further investigations revealed the 41-year-old had been residing illegally in Cyprus since 2022.

The injured police officer was taken to Limassol general hospital, where he was diagnosed with injuries to the left hand and his back, as a result of which he was signed off for five days.
