Instagram influencer Sotiria Demiroglou, the former partner of TikTok personality Nikos Peletie who was reportedly arrested earlier this week for inciting violence and sexist rhetoric, told the Cyprus Mail that she was subjected to ‘harmful behaviour’ while living with him.
“I can state that there were incidents and actions that violated my personal boundaries,” Demiroglou said.
The 23-year-old said that during their time living together, she experienced behaviour that was harmful and left no space for dialogue or resolution.
Greek-Cypriot TikTok personality Peletie was arrested following public complaints raised by women’s rights groups on Monday.
Peletie is a social media personality with a following of 79,000 on TikTok, regularly posting videos featuring young women across platforms, often accompanied by controversial commentary.
While Demiroglou does not wish to comment on the allegations that went public on Monday, she said she would not be surprised if they were true.
“As a woman, I cannot comment on or question the allegations made by other women. I am not surprised. His public image and statements unfortunately reflect what I experienced during our time living together,” she said.
During a TV appearance on Wednesday, Demiroglou said that Peletie was in possession of personal photos and videos of her, which she “did not want to exist”, however she emphasised he had not made any threats in regard to them.
On TV, Demiroglou said that Peletie had taken videos of her from behind without her consent during a recent encounter of hers with a former partner at a friend’s engagement.
The following day, when she and Peletie met to exchange keys, she said she asked him to delete the videos. Peletie allegedly refused, prompting Demiroglou to say she would consider taking legal action, adding that she could “do it like the others,” referring to the existing legal complaint already filed against him.
“Regarding the video and my personal data, attempts were made to resolve the matter peacefully, but that was not possible. Resorting to institutional avenues was a necessary step for my personal safety and dignity,” she told the Cyprus Mail.
The influencer, with a following of more than 99,000, met Peletie during filming of the Greek reality show Power of Love, in which both took part, eventually winning the show as a couple in September 2024.
She has previously described her relationship with the Cypriot TikToker as “toxic and manipulative”.
She said Peletie’s behaviour off screen was vastly different to his persona on the reality show, where he came across as more charming.
Demiroglou said that while things went well in the beginning, their relationship became more difficult over time, adding that it was “one thing to see someone for three months in a show, and another to live with them for three months in real life”.
“I am unequivocally asking for any further association of my name with this man to cease. He does not represent me, he offends me, and he does not reflect either my current path or the one I intend to follow,” Demiroglou said.
In the recent past, Peletie has repeatedly shown himself together with controversial Cypriot youtuber and MEP Fidias Panayiotou, who has recently caused controversy by staging a trip to Moscow during Victory Day celebrations and earlier went viral for hugging Elon Musk.
Peletie’s posts include “A woman is an ungrateful animal by nature and goes crazy when you tell her no,” and “If men had more sex, crime would drop to 0%”.
According to the police, he was questioned and eventually let go after being charged in writing.
Peletie did not respond to the Cyprus Mails’ request for comment.
