“As the valley comes alive with the vibrant colours of blooming almond trees,” says the Bee and Embroidery Museum in Kato Drys, “we can’t help but feel festive, and we’d love for you to be part of the celebration.”
As such, it organises the Almond Blossoms and the Bee Travels event this weekend. From 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, the Kato Drys Museum in the Larnaca district will swing open its doors to welcome visitors and celebrate spring’s gifts.
In a purely festive mood, following nature’s rhythm and cycle, the museum will immerse guests in the season’s richness. Introducing visitors to the 15 local varieties of almonds, the museum will share insights into each one and their unique flavours.
Apart from that, with the true Cypriot hospitality that villages pride themselves on, the museum will treat its guests to traditional local goods made from almonds and honey, as well as to a refreshing glass of soumada – a traditional Cypriot drink made from almonds.
The day will also include bee talks where specialists will talk about the fascinating world of bees, their vital role in pollination and nature and how they travel from flower to flower in the search of nectar. Suitable for all ages, the event is open to everyone and with free admission to the museum.
