The Association of Greek Professionals in Cyprus (Selek) has been officially established under the auspices of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve), according to an official announcement.

The new body aims to promote the professional, business, scientific and social interests of Greeks active in Cyprus.

The announcement stated that the founding general assembly took place in Nicosia, marking the formal launch of the organisation.

The initiative also seeks to systematically develop synergies among its members while strengthening institutional links with organisations in Cyprus, Greece and the European Union.

Following the completion of the assembly, the first meeting of the newly elected board of directors was held to constitute the body.

The board was formed with Constantinos Dalta as president, Constantinos Kosmas as vice president, Angelos Chontoulidis as secretary and Philippos Markou as treasurer, alongside members Dimitris Kakounis, Grigoris Kamperis and Giorgos Bitoulas.

“The establishment of the Association of Greek Professionals in Cyprus constitutes a mature and necessary institutional initiative,” said Constantinos Dalta, president of Selek.

“We begin with a clear purpose, transparency and commitment to accountability,” he added.

“We are laying the foundations for an organised, credible and outward-looking presence that will contribute meaningfully,” he continued.

In a separate statement, the Director General of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Philokypros Roussounides, described the creation of the association as a significant and targeted step.

“The establishment of the association is an important and targeted initiative that strengthens networking, cooperation and the utilisation of the experience and expertise of Greek professionals active in Cyprus,” he said.

He also expressed confidence that “the organisation would become a key pillar for strengthening business ties between Cyprus and Greece, contributing dynamically to the further development of economic activity”.
