Cyprus successfully concluded its participation in the Foodex Japan 2026 exhibition, held from March 10 to March 13, 2026 at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre in Japan.

According to an announcement released on Wednesday by Trade Ministry, the country’s presence at the event “provided valuable insights for shaping its future strategy in the Japanese market“.

Moreover, the ministry stated that the participation “highlighted significant growth prospects for high-quality Cypriot products within a highly competitive international environment”.

The Cyprus participation initiative was organised by the Trade Ministry, in cooperation with the Cyprus Trade Centre in Tokyo.

It was also mentioned that Cyprus was included in the EU Pavilion, ensuring strong visibility and access to a specialised network of buyers, importers and representatives from the HORECA sector.

“Through the coordination of the European Commission, a selected range of Cypriot products was presented and dynamically promoted, allowing visitors to experience the quality and authenticity of Cypriot production,” the ministry said.

A central role at the exhibition was played by halloumi cheese, which was offered for tasting to a large number of visitors.

The response confirmed its international recognition and attracted the interest of professionals active in Mediterranean cuisine.

At the same time, Cypriot wines recorded strong performance as part of the broader promotion of European wines.

The Cyprus presence was further enhanced by olive oils and salt products, which were used in live cooking demonstrations at the pavilion.

The ministry also stated that the event reaffirmed its position as Asia’s leading food and beverage trade exhibition, attracting more than 72,000 professional visitors.

It added that a total of 2,930 exhibitors from 74 countries and regions participated in this year’s event, underlining its global significance.
