Cypriot Australian writer and performer Koraly Dimitriadis has been named a finalist in the short stories category of the American Book Fest Fiction Awards in Los Angeles for her debut collection The Mother Must Die.
The collection has strong links to Cyprus, where it was launched in 2025 with the support of the deputy culture ministry.
The Cyprus launch featured award-winning writers Constantia Soteriou and Erini Loucaides, while the book’s cover, illustrated by Dimitriadis’ daughter, depicts a woman walking into the sea in Limassol.
Dimitriadis, whose family originates from Cyprus, frequently explores themes of migration, identity and the Cypriot diaspora through her writing.
