People over 76 will have access to the vaccination portal from Friday 9 am so that they can book an appointment, the health ministry has announced.

A total of 9,264 appointments will be made available for the vaccination centres operating in all districts. The ministry said only people over 76 will have access for registration.

For better planning purposes, the vaccination portal will close at 7pm on Thursday and reopen at 9am on Friday, the ministry said. It added that at the same time, people will be informed when arranging their appointment on the type of vaccine that will be given out at each centre.

The health ministry recommended that people who fall into the age group that has priority for vaccination, arrange an appointment on the first available slot (day and time), so that there is a continuous flow to the vaccination centres.

“In order to avoid discomfort and confusion at the vaccination centres, and because it has been observed that in some cases people come much earlier than their scheduled appointment, a strong appeal is made that people go to the vaccination centres at the scheduled time of their appointment and not earlier,” it added.
