The Cyprus problem, bilateral relations between Cyprus and Israel, the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and issues related to addressing the COVID-19 pandemic are expected to be the focus of the talks between President, Nicos Anastasiades and Israeli Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday.
Anastasiades is in Israel for a one-day visit during which he will have meetings with its political leadership.
Government Spokesman, Kyriacos Koushos, said President Anastasiades’ visit to Israel was “particularly important.” He said that a broad spectrum of issues will be discussed, with a view to further enhance and deepen bilateral relations on issues of mutual interest as the foreign policy, defence, energy and tourism.
Koushos said that to this end the ministers of foreign affairs, defence and energy as well as the deputy minister of tourism will accompany Anastasiades, and will hold separate meetings with their Israeli counterparts to discuss issues of their competence.
Anastasiades met in the morning with President of the State of Israel, Reuven Rivlin and in the afternoon with Prime Minister Netanyahu.
After their talks and statements to the media, Anastasiades and Netanyahu will attend a working dinner.
