Coronavirus: 12,296 checks, 102 booked

Police booked 101 individuals and one establishment for flouting mandates to keep the coronavirus in check from 6am on Monday until 6am on Tuesday, carrying out a total of 12,296 checks.

Most offenders did not send an SMS asking for permission before leaving home or were not wearing masks. The business was booked because an employee was not wearing a protective mask at the workplace.

The details by district are as follows:

Nicosia: 2,415 checks, 19 booked

Limassol: 4,017 checks, 39 booked

Larnaca: 1,230 checks, 12 booked

Paphos: 1,516 checks, 13 booked

Famagusta: 1,516 checks, 15 booked

Morphou: 656 checks, nobody booked

Traffic police conducted 888 inspections and fined one person.

The rapid response unit carried out 12 checks and marine police 36 but they did not report any violations.
