Coronavirus: presidential aide tests positive, other two spokesmen self-isolate

Victoras Papadopoulos

Presidential aide Victoras Papadopoulos has tested positive for coronavirus, forcing three other senior presidential staffers to quarantine, it emerged on Tuesday.

Reports said Papadopoulos had symptoms, but a rapid test came out negative.  A subsequent PCR test confirmed he was infected.

Following the confirmation, government spokesman Kyriacos Koushos, deputy spokesman Panayiotis Sentonas, and undersecretary to the president Vasilis Palmas, who were close contacts, went into self-isolation.

Areas inside the presidential palace were disinfected as a precaution.
