Coronavirus: No deaths, 470 new cases (updated)

No new deaths and 470 new cases of coronavirus were reported on Sunday.

A total of 55,096 tests were carried out, meaning the positivity rate was 0.85 per cent.

The new cases bring to 51,505 the total detected since the start of the pandemic, while the total number of deaths remains at 272.

A total of 225 people are in hospital, of which 57 are in a serious condition.

Of the 57, a total of 31 are intubated, two are in the ICU but not intubated and 24 are in a high dependency unit.

Of the 55,096 tests carried out on Sunday, 2,546 were PCR and 52,550 rapid test.

Of the cases found 94 were the close contacts of known cases and the result of 778 tests.

Eighty cases were found from 1,404 tests carried out on private initiative, while 14 were found among 140 tests at state hospital labs.

One case was found among 224 tests taken after referral by GPs and 2 were found among 71 samples at private labs and pharmacies.

Rapid test locations around the island saw 52,479 people take a test, of which 279 were found positive.

In Nicosia 21,671 rapid tests were carried out with 102 positives, a positivity rate of 0.47 per cent, in Limassol 14,543 tests found 92 cases (0.63 per cent positivity), in Larnaca8,078 tests found 53 positives (0.66 per cent positivity), in Paphos 4,672 tests found 23 positives (0.49 per cent positivity), in Famagusta 2,886 tests found eight positives (0.28 per cent positivity) while tests on 629 athletes found one positive.
