Coronavirus: one death, 58 positives announced on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry announced one death and 58 positives for Covid-19 from 6,158 PCR and rapid tests on Sunday with a positivity rate of 0.94 per cent.

Mass testing was not carried out due to the Easter Sunday break.

The death concerned a man aged 56 who was unvaccinated. It is no longer made public if those who died have underlying conditions. Total deaths now stand at 314.

There are 292 people in hospitals of whom 72 are said to be in serious condition.

Of the 6,158 tests carried out, 6,112 were PCR and 46 rapid tests producing the 58 positives as follows:

  • 4 from 5,008 samples taken as part of a passenger checks at the airports .
  • 39 from 755 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 14 from 349 samples tested in hospital labs
  • 1 from 46 rapid tests done by private clinical laboratories and pharmacies

There was no breakdown of area since that concerns only the testing done by the ministry’s free programme for the public.
