Did you know they’re actually made from a vegetable that can be grown in your own garden?

Loofahs’ flower buds, flowers, and very young fruit can be eaten, but, to be used as sponges, the fruits must mature on the vine until they turn yellow or brownish, and then peeled to reveal the tough fibrous tissues inside that will later become natural cleaning aids.
