Woman caught wearing her mask wrongly, arrested over allegedly forged ID

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of forgery, illegal entry to Cyprus and violation of Covid restrictions.

According to police, on Tuesday night at 8 pm Paphos police were checking a local mall on Covid patrol during which they found a woman wearing a mask but it was not covering her nose and mouth.

During verification of her data, she presented a Greek identity card in her name, on which her age of 35 years was recorded.

The police officer who checked it, however, found that the stamp was black instead of blue and suspicions were raised that the identity was fake.

The 35-year-old was further questioned and then presented a Georgian ID card in her name.

It was established that she is not registered with the aliens and immigration service and it appeared that she entered the island illegally.

She was arrested while investigations are ongoing.
