The health ministry on Friday announced that two people died from coronavirus as 59 new Covid cases were detected out of 26,652 PCR and rapid tests, resulting to a positivity rate of 0.22 per cent.
The deaths concerned a man, aged 82, and a 54-year-old woman who died in the Intensive care unit of the Nicosia general hospital. The new fatalities bring the number of coronavirus deaths to 554, of whom 351 were men.
The new cases bring the total number of coronavirus cases to 120,331 since the pandemic outbreak.
Two cases were detected as part of the random testing at the airports, while another 15 travellers tested positive upon arrival on the island.
The rest of the cases were locally-acquired.
As of Friday, there were 73 Covid positive people in the hospitals, of them 30 were in serious condition, and 13 were intubated.
